Hello new friends! 

I am Jesse Benjamin.

I am a mother of four, a Veterinarian, and a Certified Personal Trainer. I help busy people  incorporate fitness and good nutrition into their lives through online training, so that they can feel strong, be healthy, and live well!

My Fitness Journey

I was active, and an athlete, for most of my early life. It wasn't until I started my career as a Veterinarian that I lost touch with this part of my self. I was working full time and raising a busy family. Seven years went by where I did not work out.

 

I reached a point where I no longer felt like myself. I was tired all the time, focused all my energy on my kids and husband, and did nothing for myself. I was miserable. It took a divorce, counselling, and a complete re-evaluaton of my priorities to get myself out of the rut I was in. I finally started to focus on the things that made me feel accomplished and happy. I started making fitness a priority, which in turn, meant I finally started to make myself a priority again. 

 

That was the number one best thing I could have done for myself, my health, and my family!

Working out made me feel whole again. I started to feel confident in myself, my body and its abilities again. I felt younger, and finally energized! I even started to love my postpartum body again. I knew I had to share this experience with others, so I took the plunge and became a Certified Personal Trainer.

I chose to name my Instagram page Melgignat Fit because melgignat (pronounced: mel-gig-a-nut) means strong in Mi'kmaq and that was my fitness goal when I started. To be a healthier stronger version of myself! 

If I can do it, so can you! I am no one special, just a busy working Mom, who feels like she is constantly forgetting something important (and usually is), who just decided to start taking care of herself again. I have designed my Living Healthy Program for people who face the same challenges that I did when I started. I want people to realize you don't need fancy equipment or to spend hours at the gym or meal prepping to live a healthy lifestyle. It is the small daily changes that you make that add up over time to you feeling good and living your best life! You can do it!
